My husband was recently a patient here at NFH. He was admitted with ulcerative colitis, a very miserable illness. The staff caring for him has been caring, responsive, and thorough. We also had a discussion with the director during her rounds, who was very interested and concerned that he received the best care possible.
In considering the form to nominate a nurse for the DAISY Award, I immediately have thought of Sarah. This young lady is just that. She is a lady. Sarah was been quick to respond, always cheerful, and sweet as can be. However, what impressed us the most is that she is able to walk the fine line between solid professionalism, and down to earth kind heartedness. Sarah is like a sister or good friend in all aspects of her nursing care. She takes the time to make you feel like you are the most special patient on the floor. She has been helpful in so many ways, and always follows up on all aspects of his care.
We feel Sarah is the perfect example of what any very sick patient hopes to have in the role of their nurse and caregiver. Yes, she deserves the DAISY Award.
A second patient wrote: Sarah was very sympathetic and professional at all times. She is very resourceful, kind, and such a beautiful person. I love to be taken care of by those who have the patience and passion for giving of themselves to make those of us who are hurting feel as best we can. Sarah gave the best patient care as anyone could give. I will always remember her.
Finally, a third patient wrote: Sarah is a breath of fresh air. She provided excellent care to me as her patient and to my family. Many thanks to her for her skills and expertise, but what mattered to me most was that she cared. She will always be remembered, and we will tell everyone about how special she made our stay at North Fulton.
6/16/12: Nurse of the year: Sarah Bentley, a North Fulton Hospital Daisy award in November, recently was named the Roswell hospital’s nurse of the year. Bentley, who works in North Fulton’s medical telemetry unit, was overwhelmed at a ceremony before co-workers.
“I can’t imagine doing anything else,” the fifth-year nurse said. “Where else can you wear pajamas to work?”
