Gary Przywara, LPN, Special Procedures, Children’s at Scottish Rite

There are several words that co-workers use to describe Gary Przywara, including “rare jewel, completely invaluable, true expert, resourceful, inventive, meticulous, compassionate and a whole lot of fun”, to name a few. Co-workers praise Gary for his willingness to go above and beyond what is expected of him in his area of expertise. Surgeons rely on him for his strength, knowledge and experience, and often for his help in difficult cases. Some surgeons won’t perform certain procedures without him.
A co-worker said, “He can operate and troubleshoot just about any piece of equipment in the department. Why? Because he is not satisfied with simply knowing something. He makes himself an expert by learning everything he can about his job.”
Teammates say he is one of the most accomplished technicians in the country, performing procedures that no one else in the hospital system could accomplish. One doctor said, “The gastrointestinal lab does not and cannot function without him.” In addition to his technical expertise, Gary also wins trust with patients and parents, putting them at ease, and patiently teaching them procedures until they fully grasp a concept.
One co-worker summarized the impact of Gary’s contribution to Children’s and her own life, saying, “I am not just a better nurse for having worked with him, I am a better person for knowing him.”
