Here is what a family member from the Orthopedic Surgery Clinic had to say about Debbie's dedication to nursing and to our patients and families:
Debbie is one of the most selfless compassionate nurses I have met in all my 36 years, being a nurse myself. While visiting this clinic numerous times over the past few weeks with my husband, we not only experienced this ourselves but also witnessed Debbie with the many other patients she came in contact with. No matter how busy the clinic was, there was a smile in her voice and a kind word for everyone including taking the time to teach and answer questions as needed. It is also obvious that she has an incredible working relationship with Dr. T and her team including trust and respected by all. I understand that this behavior is an expectation of every nurse employed at UAMS but Debbie goes the extra mile each and every time.
For us, she was even more special, when we were scared and had received unexpected news. She understood and took the time to explain what we would be expecting over the next few weeks. Every time during those 8 weeks when we called with questions or concerns, Debbie promptly called back even if it was after a long clinic day or the clinic had closed, usually around 6:30p.m. Never did she assume because I was also a nurse that I should know the answers to our questions. She was so kind and compassionate with our fears and our disappointments. And, each time she said she was going to follow up - she did!
Debbie is a UAMS gem and shows this institution at its best to all she touches - a true DAISY!
