Let me start by saying that all of the nursing care I received during my stay was exemplary! I was treated with kindness and skill the whole time. I, and my family, was impressed; it made my stay wonderful.

One nurse, Kim Hefner, went far above and beyond her responsibilities in my care. I had surgery and had been instructed to bring my CPAP mask and tubing for recovery and overnight stay. When I got up to my room after surgery, my CPAP mask was not with my belongings. I asked my nurse if she would call the surgery center to see if they had it. She called and we never heard back. I was in a panic, because my apnea is severe and it costs a lot of money to replace the mask. That nurse contacted respiratory care and they brought me a single-use mask (which I have to pay for). The next morning Kim came on duty. I asked her if there had been any word on my mask and she said she would look into it. She got right on it, and stayed on it. Through her persistence, my CPAP supplies were finally located on a shelf somewhere in the surgical center and returned to me as I was checking out.

I am so thankful for the responsiveness, compassion and initiative Kim Hefner showed to me and on my behalf. She went far above expectation, far beyond her job description, to help me. She personally offered extraordinary care to me as her patient, and through her persistence saved me from a great deal of stress, insomnia/apnea, and financial injury.
