In a word, Matthew is amazing! His tireless commitment to our patients, to Harborview, to our community and beyond is unparalleled. Matthew works very hard every day to ensure that our patients in the operating room receive top notch care. His attention to detail, high standards, initiative, caring and teaching abilities amaze me on a daily basis. He is one of those few people that will jump in and help no matter what he is doing and no matter the situation. He can do it all and does it with a smile on his face and a great sense of humor. He is inspiring to be around. In conjunction with the spine surgeons, Matthew has turned our spine service into one of the most recognized in the country. He has accomplished this through his commitment to make Harborview the best that it can be, by organizing in-services for residents and coordinating spine training seminars for surgeons across the country. Matthew has also been a member of Operation Smile since 2002. In that time he has been on over 8 missions overseas and uses his own vacation time to help change the lives of over 4,100 children. He is admired by his peers, he is a hero to his patients and to most of the people that work in the Operating Room.
