I met John a over a year ago. He was one of those employees you see from time to time but, never know what there story is. John precepted me when I trasferred to the PACU and I soon found out what an amazing person this gent is. His wealth of clinical knowledge is renowned in the perioperative area. He is the "go to" guy when a difficult problem arises or some obscure bit of information is needed. Beyond his mastery of PACU nursing he is the most humble and compassionate person I have met at VM. He truly cares for each patient and his calm, thoughtful approach places his patients at ease. John is a true team player and consideres the feelings and needs of all employees. Some take his demeanor as just easy going but, I know that this ex-cop, viet-nam vet just plain cares about people. He is truly beloved by all that know hime in the PACU. I've been out of the PACU for about eight months now and have never been motivated to nominate anybody for anything, but John deserves recognition for years of excellent, compassionate care given and the example to others he is.
