Rae came to our unit ready to join the team. She immediately started taking down birthdays and special dates so we could each be celebrated. If a nurse is out sick, she is the one to bring the get well card for everyone to sign. She has experienced so much during her 25+ years as a nurse (she has worked at our hospital for 36 years)and shares her knowledge with us when we need help. Whether it is trach care or calling a doctor, she is there to jump in and help. Also, she is ready and willing to be educated. She knows that you learn new things in nursing every day. Rae knows how to keep the patient comfortable. It's the little things like flipping the pillow case and ensuring the patient is turned every 2 hours that make her stand out as a nurse. She is not afraid to touch a patient which is so calming for someone scared and sick. She treats the patient as she would like to be treated. She is the most efficient charge nurse I've ever worked with! Not only does she keep the floor running, but she makes sure old charts are on the floor for every patient and the recycle bins are empty. There is no task too small or too big for Rae to tackle! Rae is a joy to work with. She believes in making our unit a fun place to be!
