I know there are many stories out there of nurses demonstrating compassion, this is Shana's story. Shana Radman took a lot of time and care with a patient who was transferred to Telemetry on Comfort Care just before 7 pm. The patient wasn't expected to make it through the night. Shana was orientating a new nurse and offered to sit with the patient so he would not be alone. Shana spoke with the patient's mother who was not going to be able to come and be with her son.
In reading the patient's chart, Shana read that the patient loves listening to the Rolling Stones. Shana played music by the Rolling Stones for the patent for hours. He passed away in the early morning hours. Shana shared this with the patient's mom, and it meant so much to her. The patient's mother shared a story about how she played the Rolling Stones for her son when he was in a coma at the age of 20. He pulled out of that coma not long after she played music for him.
I know that Shana's compassion and going that extra mile helped the patient's mother have peace of mind that her son was not alone. He was well taken care of in his final hours.
Thank you, Shana!
