Lisa is everything you envision when thinking about what a nurse should be. She is knowledgeable, kind, and compassionate. H can sometimes be a more "challenging" assignment due to how sick he is and how quickly things can take a turn. This never deters her from showing up excited and happy to have him. Even when she doesn't get assigned to H she always makes it a point to come to visit him and asks how he is doing. If H is having a particularly rough night she will sit in his room and chart on the computer in his room just to be close by in case he needs her. I have always trusted Lisa and felt confident in her ability to take care of H in any situation that comes at her. One day her skills and ability to perform in an emergency situation were really put to the test when H coded while she was his nurse. I will never forget the absolute terror I felt when I got the phone call that morning saying he had coded and they were starting chest compressions. In the few minutes it took me to throw on some pants and run over to the hospital from the Ronald McDonald house they had gotten him back, I remember walking in the room full of medical staff and Lisa coming up to me saying "I'm so sorry this happened" and I said, "what are you talking about? I am so glad you were the nurse here when it did." The whole event took place close to the end of her shift so she had to stay really late to chart and finish up everything and she came to check on us over and over before she left giving us hug after hug. Now I know all of the nurses are trained to handle a situation like this and "she was just doing her job" but Lisa will forever be a hero in my book for everything she did for my son that day.
