Taylor dealt with two very different families and patients during the sensitive process of terminal extubation. During one event we had a code on the unit. She helped with the code but also acknowledged and made herself available emotionally present for the family and patient. She acknowledged the care of the terminally ill patient was the same as the care for the palliative patient. Both required great skill and she made a point to make the palliative patient and her family feel important.
