As my time on 4th comes to an end, I feel I need to recognize one of the best nurses who has been instrumental in my time here and has helped and will help many nurses to come, Ansley Gittens. When I first started, I have to admit I was intimidated by Ans. She has what we call a "resting nurse face". Behind that face is one of truly the most patient-centered nurses I have ever encountered. Ansley cares for each patient who comes through our doors. She is a strong patient advocate and strives for the highest patient safety. Many times, I have heard her put herself down because she may not have the education that some other nurses have, but I know without a shadow of a doubt she is one of the strongest nurses we have on our team. She is calm in emergencies and has a world of experience for new nurses. Any time I have not been confident in a skill or when I need someone to talk out a patient situation with, Ansley has always been there. Even through the tough times, she still comes to work with a smile, as long as it is after a cup of coffee. I truly feel she is a DAISY Nurse. She is a nurse we need at the forefront of all patient care. Ansley is a beacon of hope at Colquitt Regional and I would gladly work beside her and under her leadership on any given day.
