My water broke, and I arrived at the hospital with the plan of having an unmedicated birth. I had anticipated delivering by the next morning. The morning came and still no delivery. Shift change came and the most compassionate, smart, caring, and very knowledgeable nurse came into my life. Dana was at my bedside for what turned out to be a very emotional and what would be the worst pain I ever felt in my life. She made me feel like I was the only patient on the unit. Dana guided me through the tough contractions and helped me breathe my way through. Her and Dr. G did everything possible to carry out my wishes until my BP went sky high and my baby's heart rate began to decelerate. I ended up after 26 hours of unmedicated labor having to have a C-section. I was so glad to have Dana by my side through this terrifying experience. She was wonderful to my family, especially my husband, keeping him informed and explaining everything to him. She is a true one of a kind nurse. I am a nurse myself and have never come across a better nurse in my career, as a patient, or with a family member. She came to visit me in postpartum the next day to check on me too, which says a lot about a nurse's character and nature. She is a true asset to this department.
