Wow! Where do I start? The Little Company of Mary nursing staff is outstanding, but Mai Menes stands out as a beacon of hope. The positive energy she exudes at all times is infectious. She walks in the room and you already feel better.
A proactive approach to patient care and well-being is another outstanding attribute rarely seen. All nurses are busy and attend to your needs but Mai does more. For me, it was medication management and compassionate care. Taking me outside for 15 minutes of sun was very healing - no other nurse even suggested it. Encouraging to walk and listen to the Thursday Piano Man was also good.
Immediate response to patient needs. She always gets the job done quicker and better, and she dives into the "not so pretty stuff" as well. Her care extends across all of her patients as I've witnessed her make more progress where other nurses have failed.
It's apparent to me that she has the respect of nurse assistants and fellow RNs, she works well with everyone.
In summary, Mai is respected by peers, adored by patients, knowledgeable in her craft and extremely efficient. She should be a role model for all RNs. Mai made my days better when she was my RN.
