We had a very confused patient in MSDU who would get agitated in the evening. He was attempting to get out of bed and began swinging at the nurses trying to assist him. We initiated a behavioral response team and John responded right away to assist. Throughout the BRT, the patient continued to get agitated with the nursing staff.
John sat down next to the patient and began to have a "man-to-man" talk with him about how he was behaving and what he wanted. The patient turned to John and asked him if he would be able to give him a shave. John's immediate response was, "How do you like your shave? Do you want to keep your mustache?" The patient said, "Just a trim really, and then I'll get back in bed." John ran for supplies and assisted the patient with a proper shave. It was change of shift and John's fourth day in a row, but it didn't matter to him how tired he was or how badly he wanted to get out of work. This is very characteristic of John. He is always the first to help any of the staff and patients. He treats everyone with respect and kindness and he always remains calm. I honestly could not imagine the MSDU without John, he is the best teammate I could ask for!
