Heather is an extremely talented critical care nurse who is always helping her peers as preceptor, team leader, or charge nurse. Recently, a young patient with a terminal illness was in the surgical intensive care unit on palliative care and was transitioning to comfort care. The patient had few requests, but asked if she could watch a movie and eat some cake with her children. Heather, along with a few other nurses from the unit, took it upon themselves to make these small but important wishes happen. They decorated the patient's room with pictures, ordered a cake, and borrowed a portable TV and DVD player from the Children's Hospital.
Heather always goes the extra mile. Although she prefers to remain in the background, Heather is an inspiration to all of those around her.
