I've worked with Jennifer for 3 years now. From the moment I met her, I knew her heart was in the right place. She is a fantastic nurse as far as her knowledge and skill set. I can trust her with anything that is asked of her. Her character, however, stems far beyond her knowledge. She cares deeply for our veterans and their families. Her entire mission is to make sure they get the best care. Within my first month of working here, Jennifer encountered an unstable patient in our waiting room accompanied by his frightened daughter. She immediately grabbed me, and this veteran was transferred to Wake Forest where he subsequently got a pacemaker and open heart surgery. She helped save his life; I know that he would not be our patient still if it wasn't for her.
Jennifer also cares deeply for our senior patients. She will physically take them where ever they need to go within the VA. She has gone to a patient's car who was having a heart attack in the rain to get his house keys and call his family for him during a critical situation.
My staff and I can depend on her for anything. When she interacts with patients not only does she learn their medical history, but also what they do for a living, where they are from, and how many children and dogs they have. She treats the whole patient. She will talk to them on the phone for as long as they need to reassure them and put their mind at ease. She is humble, patient, and selfless. She is at the VA to take care of our veterans and has done so for over 30 years. Her mission never changes and only gets stronger. I could not have asked for someone better to work with. She makes me want to be a better provider myself. Thank you, Jennifer.
