Ruth Ramirez is truly an amazing individual. She has been a 3North team member since 2011 and since that time she has fully embraced the Medical/Surgical model of fast passed and complex patient care.
Ruth is second to none and continues to grow professionally and personally within her career on a daily basis. Ruth rarely has a shift to herself because I rely heavily on her to orient new nurses coming to the floor. She fosters collaboration and learning among new nurses as well as students. I trust her to lead by example and always place the patients first by doing the right thing even when no one is watching. She is also our bi-lingual savior; often recognized by our Spanish speaking patients and our physicians for her expertise in this area. She puts our non-English speaking patients at ease with her demeanor and confidence in care delivery. Ruth's positive attitude and smiling face makes even the most challenging churn of 3North a doable situation.
Ruth has a caring heart and an infectious laugh no matter the circumstances of the day. Her dedication to nursing and JCMH is evident not in the care she provides but also the distance that she drives to and from work every shift. Ruth travels 106 miles round trip per shift to work at JCMH.
The patient who nominated Ruth had this to say about her: "I found Nurse Ruth to be kind, compassionate and efficient. Whenever she told me that she would take care of something, check my meds, etc. I could always count on her. She is very dependable and took the time to explain things."
