When a patient came in amid having a heart attack, and after Cath Lab interventions were completed, Jessica's shift started. Jessica removed a femoral arterial sheath with immediate issues. Fortunately for this patient and with Jessica's background as a Cardiac Cath Lab nurse, her nursing instincts kicked in. After following all protocols, holding pressure and seeking assistance from Cath Lab Staff, a Cardiology PA and the Cardiologist, she was able to stabilize the site. Jessica felt that she still did not have control of the site just yet and shortly after, the patient acutely hemodynamically decompensated. Jessica's diligence for listening to her instinct kept her at the patient's bedside advocating for more Physician presence. Ultimately the patient was able to have a good outcome.
