There are not enough words to describe the compassion, care, and dedication present in lead nurse Amy Richards. Having been at the Queen several times over the past several years, I have never met such “hands on” in a lead nurse. Whatever is needed- from the original admission assessment to subsequent help with bathing, toileting, reposition, Amy is there with a friendly smile and positive attitude. Beyond that she is knowledgeable of each patient- from the plan of care to recent labs to likes and dislikes.
During very turbulent emotional times for the patient and family, Amy has repeatedly shown compassion and caring- it comes as a simple action, a kind word, a warm smile. She has even stayed past her shift to assist getting my husband safely into bed when the rest of the staff was busy. Indeed Amy demonstrates each aspect of a DAISY Award honoree. The Queen is very lucky to have her.
