My daughter was born at 34 weeks and 5 days. I was on prescription narcotics throughout my pregnancy, so she came to NICU for issues with breathing (due to her being premature), her ability to eat, and to be watched for narcotic withdrawal. I frequently asked our nurses about the scoring system and struggled to get answers. Rochelle came along at the perfect time, 72 hours after birth. After feeling judged by others at times, Rochelle totally shocked me by being crazy nice. She said, "At B's next feeding I will come and explain/answer any questions you may have". Her next feeding was only about 20-25 minutes from then, and exactly 20-25 minutes later Rochelle came into our room with a binder, some paperwork and the biggest, brightest smile I had seen from anyone since being here. Rochelle went way out of her way by spending more than 1 ½ hours going over every little detail and question I had. She even made us extra score sheets so her dad and I as parents could score her and help Rochelle with her scoring so that we were all on the same page and understanding. She also helped extra with her feedings, taking the extra time in my child's room to improve her feedings. Rochelle, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
