It is my pleasure to inform the TGH hospital administrators and stakeholders of the outstanding service and care given to my husband and me during a recent health crisis. My husband had a stroke and was airlifted to TGH at my earliest request from a pasture in northeast Brooksville. Surgery was performed expertly, and the results are phenomenal. We are so grateful. D is experiencing minor deficits, but considering what could have been, we are working through them and exercising patience.
Our nurses in the Neuroscience ICU were the most incredible compliment to an outstanding effort directed by the doctors. Every nurse and all the staff were appreciated. However, I would like to provide special recognition to one. Our nurse, Crystal, who came on board at night, proved to be a hard worker and calmly courageous under fire. She was determined to make sure he had his scheduled MRI, and afterward, the GI bleed caused by a curled intubation tube brought on a very intense time of problem-solving and emergency care.
Crystal is a quiet, uncomplaining lady who never was allowed a moment to relax all night. After she secured the shift change in the morning, she had a moment, packed and ready to leave, where she stared at his room from the hallway and lingered. Whatever she was thinking, it had to be the details of her job and for my husband. I could read it in her eyes, did I do enough? Was he going to be ok?
