Sierra's clinical skill and especially her compassionate care exemplify the kind of nurse that our patients, their families, and our staff recognize as an outstanding role model. Here are some excerpts about Sierra from patient letters:
Sierra greeted us with a smile when we arrived just before 7pm. I know it would have been easier to delay the admission until after shift report, but after a long afternoon in the ED, it was wonderful to be on the unit in a real bed. Sierra was incredibly kind and welcoming while she obtained the necessary admission information. She portrayed competence and confidence in her positive and upbeat manner. Sierra was professional, personable, and caring. She did a perfect handoff to the oncoming nurse, introducing her and discussing my husband's plan of care. And when she returned the next day, Sierra assessed his learning needs related to diabetes and provided him with the needed education. This has really motivated him to monitor his diet much more closely. My husband paid Sierra the highest compliment, saying she was the best nurse he's ever met -and keep in mind he and I have been married for over 27 years!
She carefully reviewed everything that would be done for the balance of the day. friendly, caring, concerned and well informed. Any well financed hospital group can build attractive facilities but only a few can assemble a group of people dedicated to providing the highest level of care to their patients.
