I nominate Joyce Finnegan for the DAISY Award. Since Joyce started here in the Emergency Department, she has been a pleasure to work with. In addition to being a great clinician she always sees the bright side of things. Joyce treats all of her patients and families with courtesy and respect.
One particular story I recall is a very difficult patient and family. By using her excellent communication skills and compassion, Joyce was able to diffuse the situation of an upset patient and family when we were not meeting their expectations. Joyce was quickly able to calmly and clearly communicate the plan of care moving forward. This action met the needs of the patient and family and they were discharged happy.
This is just one example of her tireless efforts to keep all of her patients comfortable and informed during their stay in the Emergency Department.
