My beautiful, athletic, only son was dying. He was diagnosed with Cardio-Myopathy. I was told that an idiopathic virus attacked his heart and that he could not survive without a transplant.
This is when I met Nurse Frazier. I grew to love her extraordinary compassion combined with impeccable professionalism. I have never been so scared in my life and Patty knew that. She kept me informed daily. She was available whenever I needed to talk or ask questions. I could write for days about specific incidents, emergencies, decisions and tears, but the way she took care of my son is the reason I will forever be in her debt.
My son trusted and loved Patty. She gave him her valuable time and made him smile. She became his new best friend and Nurse. Patty did all this without keeping facts from him. He always knew what was happening and how severe things were.
God sent my son a heart and he became Hershey’s 158th heart transplant patient/recipient. Nurse Frazier remained her fabulous self after transplant and for each follow up visit.
I sincerely hope that you consider this brilliant, amazing woman for this award. Patty helped me keep my sanity during this time, she treated my son with care and straight-forwardness, the way she treated every patient on that floor who was waiting for their miracle to happen.
