I received a decompression surgery for my Chiari malformation. After my surgery, I was moved to the floor for my recovery. Sarah was truly a godsend. As I started to become very ill, I became very emotional as I found out I was sicker than we had known. She was there every second of this journey while my fiancé wasn't able. She sat with me and talked about our kids. She put me in the wheelchair and brought me to the window on New Year's Eve to watch fireworks with me. She is one of the kindest nurses I have ever met. She helped me with my hair every day, and no matter how tired or busy she was, she would help me get a snack by taking me in my wheelchair. She truly made my 20 days here so much easier. She is one person I will never forget! Brain surgery is hard, but she was by my side the whole way.
***
My fiancé became very familiar with the nurses and other staff members on the floor, but one nurse stood out. Sarah continuously went above and beyond her call of duty and remained extremely positive while catering to the constant needs of my fiancé. While some people come to work just to earn a paycheck, Sarah has clearly developed a passion for nursing and helping others. She proactively controlled my fiancé's pain and nausea throughout the whole process. Sarah deserves recognition for her service to all her patients.
