Mary is an extremely competent nurse, well respected by both her patients and her peers. Over the past several months, Mary has received no less than six DAISY Award nominations. All of them describe Mary as being very professional, compassionate, helpful and informative.
Mary demonstrates her expertise daily in the quality of care she provides her patients, the encouragement she offers, and the compassion she delivers in a down to earth, no-nonsense manner. She is a mentor, a wealth of knowledge and a voice of reason. She is a rock! The bottom line is that Mary consistently provides exceptional nursing care!
One patient wrote; "Even though I was in terrible pain and didn't cooperate too well, Mary helped me anyway and encouraged me as well. She insisted I needed to keep moving, believe me, I needed this or I would have laid there in my bed. After two days of Mary's encouragement, I was able to get up and use the potty chair and then walk with the walker around the room. Without her encouragement and help, I probably wouldn't have made it this far."
A family member wrote; "Mary is always on top of her patient care. She is one of a few nurses who gives paramedics complete and accurate reports. Mary is knowledgeable and proficient in her practice. Today, Mary is taking care of one of my family members and her patience with both my uncle (her patient) and my family is wonderful. Thanks, Mary!"
Another patient wrote; "Mary was very caring and understanding. She offered her friendship and gave me the courage not to give up. She got me back eating and drinking and took darn good care of me. Most of all, she showed me compassion. She and her PST spent time talking to me so I didn't feel so alone. All of the nurses have been great but both Mary and her PST brightened my day. They came into my room and made me feel good about myself! They answered all my questions and always made time to stop by and just talk for a bit.
