Connie Choudhury has been a nurse for more than 30 years in Pediatrics. She has functioned in various nursing roles throughout that time. For the last 3 years, Connie has been a valuable asset to Children's Medical Center, Access Center. In this role, Connie is responsible for facilitating and coordinating physician requests for patient admissions and transfers from external facilities, hospitals, home and clinics. She works closely with multidisciplinary teams of nursing, medical staff and ancillary services to provide a seamless process for patients, families and physicians. Connie has progressed above and beyond her role as an Access Center nurse. She has taken a great concern in the potential health risks of our staff's physical inactivity due to their job tasks which requires them to work at their desks for more than 10 hours each day.

She has taken the initiative to develop, propose and implement an Institutional Review Board (IRB) nursing research study for walking workstations (Treadmill's) in our work area. Connie's active role in these critical issues is valuable not only to the organization but also to the health benefits of her peers. It demonstrates her compassion for not only our patients & their families but also the people she works with every day.

Connie reflects excellent customer service practices by swiftly, effectively and respectfully addressing any issues, concerns or ideas to improve daily operations in the Access Centers. She reviews, revises, improves and implemented an effective orientation process for two of our recent hires and serves as the lead preceptor for these new members of our team.

Connie is active in community service activities such as Pedi Place, a nonprofit healthcare clinic for low income children in Lewisville and the surrounding region, donating her time and available supplies. Connie's continuous service and commitment to Children's is reflective of the organization's mission statement to "Make Life Better for Children".
