Bog, as she is called, is one of PCU’s finest night shift nurses. She speaks Russian and helped a patient of ours needing a cardiac cath. He spoke Russian, little English, so they developed a rapport. He was so frightened when he found out he had to have a cardiac catheterization. Bog educated him regarding the procedure and when her shift ended she went with him to the cath lab and stayed with him until it was completed. Bog exemplifies the kind of compassion patients need in a nurse and one that speaks to what the DAISY Award is all about.
