“I would like to nominate Julie Winnington from the Surgery Department. Julie is an outstanding person as a nurse and as a co-worker. She is a great charge nurse, always very professional, productive, and fair with all of the surgical staff and the OR needs. She is constantly coordinating and making sure that we have the appropriate and sufficient equipment and instruments needed for the up-coming surgeries. I truly respect Julie for the person she is and the role model she has been to me since I started working here at Shriners. Julie should be the recipient of the DAISY award 2011.” —OR/PACU
“I would like to nominate Julie Winnington from the Surgery Department as a deserving recipient of the DAISY award. Julie’s clinical skill and especially her compassionate care exemplify the kind of nurse that our patients, their families, and our staff recognize as an outstanding role model. Julie has excellent decision-making capabilities when it comes to staffing the OR, collecting the proper equipment for all cases, and assisting both the surgeons and anesthesiologist. Julie’s focus on meeting patient and family goals is reflected daily by her hands-on with each patient she takes care of. Julie is dedicated to our patients and staff. She works hard to keep everyone in the department organized and efficient. I respect and admire Julie as a perioperative nurse, co-worker, and friend.” —OR/PACU
“Julie is the primary charge nurse for the Surgical Services department. Hands down, she routinely demonstrates the traits that one would hope for and expect a nurse worthy of a DAISY award to display. Julie does a fantastic job coordinating a complex department and keeping pace with the ever changing surgery schedule. She coordinates the surgery cases between Same Day Surgery/AM Admission, Pre-Op Holding, the operating suites, and the PACU. Julie handles staffing issues to insure proper coverage in all surgery suites for scrub nurses, circulating nurses, and surgical technicians including their associated break times. Julie is a consummate professional who demonstrates the dedicated attention to detail needed and focuses on every task at hand in the most complete manner possible. She is an absolute pleasure to work with, and in a word, Julie ROCKS! —Same Day Surgery
