Barron Newman is the most dedicated nurse I have ever had the honor of working with. She not only delivers phenomenal patient care but also has the job of helping me; a new attending which I know is a huge challenge.

Two days ago at 4:30 PM we had a patient return to D clinic after a sedation procedure with high fever and rigors. She was not an active chemotherapy patient and had no obvious reason to be sick. Barron worked tirelessly obtaining multiple labs as we kept on adding more, getting a peripheral IV, calming down an irate mother who was yelling at us all and coordinating the care team until this child was stable and safely admitted to the inpatient unit.

Barron remained positive throughout this ordeal and managed to encourage me and the NP with whom I was working while we were actively trying to figure out what was best for this patient. At a point, it seemed as though the plan changed from minute to minute and Barron just flowed along with it and did not waiver at all in her skills or attitude.

I know being new to this facility that I would truly be lost without her skills, caring and guidance. My patients adore her, and their parents trust her. It is truly an honor to work with this phenomenal nurse.
