Melissa Trees has been a SICU RN since June 2011 and previously worked as a patient care intern on the unit and on 4Medicine. She was nominated for a DAISY Award by three family members of a patient, one of whom is a nurse at another IU Health location.

The family member said: “We want to recognize Melissa for helping us through this experience. IU Health should be very proud of Melissa and the other nurses who took very good care of my brother. I know because I watched everything they did! It sure is different when it’s your family. Melissa went above and beyond to comfort our mom and was patient and compassionate with all of us. She took extra care of my brother on his first post-op night and was always on top of things.”
