I was upset at first when I heard Jeff was not going to be a floor or charge nurse any longer. However, after moving into the educator role, I realized how valuable Jeff is in management. Jeff is more than just an educator. On any given day, Jeff is still playing floor nurse (if we are short), playing CA (if we are short on numbers), stocking, serving, cleaning the hallway, personally hanging blood on one of my patients when I'm too busy to get to it. He fills in the manager's role when she's on vacation. He's here before I am and sometimes leaves when I do (I work 12 hour shifts). He never complains. Jeff always has a smile on his face and his office door is always open to give advice or provide a listening ear. It is a privilege to work with Jeff and to be a part of his team.
