Tarey had a patient who had been verbally aggressive with the day staff and was overall, a challenging patient. This patient asked for the charge nurse multiple times the night before, but not the night Tarey was his nurse.
Tarey proactively listened to him, was extremely compassionate and I truly believe that this patient trusted Tarey by the end of her shift. Despite this difficult patient, she did not change how she cared for him. By the end of her shift, the energy in the patient's room was very calm and relaxing. I have witnessed Tarey use guided imagery, therapeutic touch, and her compassion to diffuse difficult situations. She did an amazing job at changing this patient's hospital experience.
