Our daughter C was admitted to the CVICU in January with severe heart failure. Virginia took care of C on numerous occasions while our child awaited a life saving heart transplant. When Virginia cared for C, I would breathe a sigh of relief knowing that not only would C receive high-quality and expert care but she would do so with compassion. While C waited for her heart, she deteriorated several times. Virginia cared for her during these times, which resulted in emergent intubations. I feel that her expert knowledge and keen intuition saved her life in these situations which kept her alive to receive her transplant. In addition to the exceptional care she provided my child, she also treats our family with warmth and patience. She answers all questions and quickly addresses any concerns. Additionally she values the family's input. As a mother of a critically ill child, this is an important quality. She truly makes our daughter's care feel like a team effort which is extremely comforting, especially when we cannot be with our child.
