Nicky is a GOLD MINE! Nicky's calm presence. Her voice exudes quiet compassion. She listened to our concerns and wishes intently, stopping whatever she was doing to give us her undivided attention, where she could have easily kept right on charting or doing one of the 700 other things she had to do. Everything Nicky did for us revealed how much she truly does CARE about the people she is caring for; it is not "just a job" to her. A good nurse is intelligent and always tries to help... A great nurse is very intelligent and knows when the kind of help that is needed is beyond her expertise, and she gets the right people in the room STAT.

Our baby had a little trouble with her airway from the get go. Later on, after things settled down, I mentioned that my baby did not look as pink as before. In the blink of an eye Nicky had her under the warmer suctioning with the charge nurse and respiratory in the room. Throughout Nicky kept her calm, caring, professional demeanor the entire time. Our baby was placed on CPAP and taken to the special care nursery. Even though everything turned out fine, it was scary.

Looking back, what impressed me the most about Nicky's actions was that she was worried. Our baby was not just another patient to Nicky. She cared about her and us. Thank you Nicky from the bottom of our hearts! You are a treasure!
