From the first moment I walked into my mother's room, I could tell she felt comfortable, safe and more confident with her nurse Corinne. It was the 5th day after my mother's stroke and the day posed challenges for her and all of us. She simply did not believe anything would get better. She was not eating regularly and was very sad and crying quite often. When I walked in Corinne was feeding her, something I had not successfully done in over 24 hours. My mother was looking into Corinne's eyes with strength, believing her, connecting on a personal level and really feeling her nurse was a support system. It was very reassuring to know that my mother had such an empathetic and genuine nurse taking care of her both medically and on a social level. My mom's nurse is kind, empathic, diligent, relatable, positive, reassuring while also being realistic, and much more. Corinne is just what my mother needed after her traumatic experience and diagnosis.
Please consider Corinne for this award. I can undoubtedly say she is one of the best nurses I have ever met. I felt and I know my mother did too, as though we had known her for years. I hope others are as lucky as we are to have a nurse like this.
