As a student nurse, I am constantly looking for strategies and techniques I can use when I become a RN. I had the privilege of working with Ruth Ann for a day and plan to use several of her methods in my own nursing practice. She always made sure the patient knew what was going on. What patients have to deal with in the hospital is the fear of the unknown. Ruth Ann helped her patients feel more comfortable by keeping them in the know to the best of her ability. She also took the time to explain to me why she does certain things a certain way and the end goal was high quality patient care. She taught me some of her time management techniques and never seemed annoyed or stressed out from changes, patients, or a certain nursing student following her around and asking lots of question. She is a great example of what a nurse should be.
