Francine was a float to be lunch and resource RN for 8 Medical one night shift. At the beginning of the shift, I noticed that one of my patients had elevated blood pressure and the IV was not usable. Another patient's IV antibiotic was late, and IV fluids were stopped. I also had an admission to complete. Francine realized the situation I was in and offered helping hands. She jumped in with sincerity that really gave me strength. While I was dealing with the urgency at hand, Francine took it upon herself to admit the new patient, did the beside swallow evaluation and gave her all the night medications, plus an assessment. After I caught up with the IV antibiotic, I paid close attention to my patient that had deteriorating vital signs. Francine came back and checked on me, we discussed what was going on with the patient and offered her second opinion. I paged the provider about this patient and received many new orders, Francine also gave me her helping hands by collecting the medication for me to administer without leaving the bedside and supplies while also giving other nurses breaks. She checked on me all night, through the process of calling RRT, standing with me through and through the process until the end of the shift, while also helping other nurses and giving everyone lunch breaks. With all of that going on, she is calm as a cucumber and easy going, but very efficient. I was really impressed with her demeanor and professionalism. She exemplified the spirit of PeaceHealth and the compassion that nurses have.
