Within my 7 day stay in the hospital I've experienced many good nurses but no one like Esther Kook. What sets her apart from the others was her ability to notice I needed help without asking. For example, she helped me walk to the restroom when seeing I had difficulty walking, changing my gown when I was drenched in sweat, and knowing when to give encouragement and empathy when seeing me in pain. Why is this important? It's because I almost fell attempting to walk the first time after strictly being in bed for 5 days. Esther cared to notice this. She listened the first time when I expressed concerns and the result is it made me feel safe. Esther, thank you from the bottom of my heart for treating me like a human being and not just another County patient. And thank you for your kindness to my children and parents when they visited.
