Veronica is an awesome, compassionate nurse who goes out of her way to assist not only her patients but her co-workers equally. She has been dealing privately with her own medical issues but continues to come to work and provide excellent care to her patients and help others with whatever they may need as well. Veronica prays with most of her patients when they are struggling and has prayed with several of mine as well.
One night I had a doctor come in and give my patient a devastating diagnosis, she began crying uncontrollably and asking for prayers. Veronica, at that time, was dealing with the same diagnosis. Absentmindedly, I asked if she would pray with my patient thinking they would have a good connection since they were dealing with the same illness. She jokingly scolded me for asking her to pray with my patient when she herself was still distressed and in need of prayers. She went into my patient's room and was in there for almost an hour, lifted her spirits and gave her hope when she was stuck in darkness. I listened as she spoke with her, hoping to retain just a little of what she was saying so hopefully one day I can be like her; to know exactly what to say. I can't thank her enough for everything she has done for, not only me but also our patients throughout the years.
