Beth is an ROPH ED RN-
Beth consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty with her responsibilities to her patients, peers, and department. She is a staunch patient advocate and frequently takes on the most challenging assignments. Beth is always the first one to help me even when not asked. She has the ability to know who needs help and when!
Recently, Beth was witnessed caring for an HIV positive patient with an upper GI bleed who was vomiting blood clots. Donned in PPE, Beth carefully and compassionately assisted with suctioning, and NG tube placement. Beth remained at the bedside to deliver medications and hang blood products. In the course of care, she kindly began conversation with the patient and developed a bond with him-she received praise, support and added respect from the family bearing witness to the events from the bedside. When the patient was stable, she further helped the family to understand the complex health condition related to their loved one’s illness.
A few months ago, Beth was caring for a homeless man with body lice-Beth (with the assistance of a few other team members) gingerly plucked the lice from the homeless man’s body-assisted him to a shower and helped restore his dignity.
Beth tirelessly devotes hours of personal time preparing the schedule, and securing coverage for our open shifts, she serves as the UAC president, charge nurse, EPIC educator, and preceptor.
Whether it is related to quality or process, Beth is constantly thinking about ways to evolve or improve the care we deliver to our patients.
