Integrity
Eva Quackenbush consistently performs in the best interest of her patients, family members, and co-workers on MPCU. She comes to work with a spring in her step and a smile on her face. Her upbeat attitude is infectious and creates a healing atmosphere for her patients and family members. When rounding on her patients, I receive multiple compliments on a daily basis about the wonderful care Eva provides. Eva is an advocate for her patients and ensures that both their physical and emotional needs are met. When she sees an inappropriate situation, Eva does not hesitate to step in and correct the situation to create a positive patient outcome.
Compassion
When a patient enters the hospital they are here because they are ill; Eva is very empathetic with her patients. She ensures that the patients and family members are comfortable by meeting their basic needs without being asked. Eva does this with a smile on her face. Eva is known to search the hospital for recliners for her patients.
Balance
Eva embraces the creation model and encourages her team members to do the same. She demonstrates balance in her personal and work life by having perfect attendance and utilizing her PDO throughout the year. Eva promotes healing with her patients through her sense of humor. Eva can take a very unhappy patient and turn them around so that they become the happiest patient on the floor. She strives to keep the moral on the unit high while keeping the patients, family members and co-workers safe.
Excellence
Eva Quackenbush creates a patient experience which is consistently reliable and safe. Eva’s rooms are free of clutter and neat at all times creating a safe environment for her patients, family members, and ancillary staff. There is a quote on excellence that describes this nominee’s attitude:”If you are going to achieve excellence in big things, you develop the habit in little matters. Excellence is not an exception, it is a prevailing attitude.” --Colin Powell Eva’s positive attitude sets her apart from other employees and this is why she is loved by her patients, family members, and team members.
Stewardship
Eva goes above and beyond to take care of the equipment that she uses daily to care for her patients. If she sees a broken piece of equipment she calls it in to be repaired. Eva completes her work in a timely manner and maintains excellent time and attendance which decreases end of shift overtime.
Teamwork
Eva’s ability to encourage teamwork creates the backbone of MPCU. We have many seasoned and strong nurses on MPCU, but if they lacked team work they would not be successful. Eva encourages a strong inclusive team spirit by helping others on her team without being asked and she always maintains a positive attitude while helping. Eva goes above and beyond to make sure that her team members are having a smooth day. Eva is an informal leader in this aspect on MPCU and we are blessed to have Eva Quackenbush on our team.
