Jennifer exemplifies excellence daily in the care that she provides to her patients. Jennifer is an outstanding Nurse Practitioner who goes above and beyond on a daily basis when it comes to caring for Galveston county's frail elderly patients. Recently Jennifer exhibited a level of compassion, advocacy, and patient/family focus that all nurses and health care professionals should try to strive for.
On a routine visit to see a patient with significant dementia with behavioral issues, Jennifer noted that something was not quite right and the patient needed to be sent to the Emergency Department for detailed workup. This however is not the easiest thing to do with an often unwilling and sometimes combative dementia patient. Jennifer was able to coordinate with family and EMS, and ride with the patient in the back of the ambulance from Clear Lake to the Galveston campus ER to ensure the patient was well cared for, and most importantly not scared. Jennifer then stayed with the patient in the ER until the family could come and was able to assure the family that the proper measures were being taken care of.
This level of patient care is what separates the good from the great and defines the outstanding! Jennifer is a true DAISY Nurse for her patient advocacy, critical thinking skills, excellence, and compassion that she brings with her daily while caring for our patients.
