Shakira has been an employee of Mount Sinai for 13 years and has taken care of many patients, always going that extra mile. She always strives to ensure her patients' needs are met. The patient who recognized Shakira shared how grateful she was with the care provided to her from diagnosis to post-transplant. One of her favorite stories she shared was when she was having difficulty eating the hospital food and was craving "spaghetti O's". Shakira stopped everything she was doing, went out and bought them for her.
