I would like to make everyone aware of how nurses go above and beyond to help patients. We all go into this profession to do just that. One night on a 12-hour shift, the Decatur Campus ED was extremely busy and David Jones, the Charge Nurse from the Parkway Campus ED, came over to help. David is always keeping an eye out for not only the Parkway Campus ED but the Decatur Campus ED as well.
This particular night, David took care of a patient that would frequently come to the hospital and most of us knew him. The patient had recently lost his home and his belongings to a house fire. He had nothing! He only had one pair of pants, one shirt, and a pair of underwear that someone had given him. David found out about his story and noticed, while he was taking care of him, that he had on a pair of slipper socks that had been given on a previous visit to the hospital. David obtained his clothes from his home and gave them to this patient that desperately needed them. This act of kindness is immeasurable! Nursing is more than just showing up to do a job and David's act of kindness proves just that. Not many people know that this happened and I would like to share this with others. This act made someone's life happier and David gave because he cares so much about people. I am honored to share this profession with a nurse like David Jones.
