I brought my wife to the ER as the result of severe abdominal cramps. The admission area was not very busy, and we got into the ER quickly. We were quickly attended by nurse William Stacy, who took care of my wife and kept close contact with updates and expectations to ease any anxiety. William did so despite the ER being the opposite of the admissions area. The ER was busy and obviously short-staffed due to apparently an unforeseen injury to a staff member. William's patients were 4 or 5 that I was aware of, and he professionally moved from one to another leaving each apparently as content and satisfied as my wife.
Having been in law enforcement for 35 years, I have seen chaos in the ER many times and how an unprofessional or discontent staff can make it seem even worse. Nurses like William Stacy are what makes a good ER better and an uncomfortable experience tolerable.
