My mother fell ill during a cruise in Aruba and was hospitalized. My brother and I traveled to Aruba to be with her. My mother was on the highest setting of the ventilator. The doctor told us that she would not receive the best care in Aruba because they do not have the best doctors, nor the best facilities. He then told us it would cost $80K to have her flown home. We were devastated. We surely thought we would have until Monday for any progress on this flight but is also seemed impossible to pull off because of the expense. A special nurse felt my anguish through the phone and immediately went to work. Candice got all the details on the air ambulance and helped us get our mom home to the best care. She handled getting the doctor and having her admitted. It would have taken us weeks to accomplish this (even if we could have accomplished it on our own). Probably not. Candice saved our mom's life and for that we are eternally grateful.
