Dawn went above what was called for. When we came in with our son she first comforted the family (especially my wife) before starting the paperwork. This continued throughout our visit. She also ensured we were educated about what is happening throughout. When there was a scare with my son she went out of her way to comfort him and my wife.

My wife had a heart transplant and she was doing very well until she started a rejection med which had extreme pain as a side effect. She went 4 days with only 5 hours of sleep. Nobody was able to get her pain under control. It was extremely difficult to watch her like this. I stepped out of the room and Dawn came walking by and asked if I needed help. She wasn't my wife's nurse and she took the time to come in the room, help her and her nurse, and took her on all night. She was the only person to get her pain under control and get her comfortable. I was re-assured when I left that she was in caring hands.

Dawn was the first person I met here. When I got to my room, she was waiting for me in my room getting my bed ready along with dinner to eat since it was after hours. She took charge answering questions and comforting me. I did not think that she was as good as she was until she came in to check on me and sat down to play a game. She really cared and was not like any nurse I had that day. Shortly after the game, I started having chest pain and she jumped into action. She was calm and quick to get me treated. Once the chest pain went away, she worked fast to cure my headache and anxiety attack. She spent over an hour with me until she was sure that I was okay, and my parents calmed down. She then checked on me almost every half hour until the end of her shift. She then went out of her way to check one last time before she left to get anything or sit with my parents. She came back on Tuesday to check up and make sure I was okay. She spent time to talk and give me and my mom company. She made sure to be with me when the doctor came to explain my situation. She stayed to help explain and answer any additional questions my mom and I had. She continues to help me and comfort me as much as she could. What I can take from my visit is how she took a personal approach to my care. I feel safe to say that I could not have had a better nurse take care of me.
