My wife and I have tried to have our own child for the last 19 years. We finally did, on our 19th anniversary. But at only 15 weeks, our baby could not survive. We met Melissa Ricker on the roughest day of our lives, and she showed us so much care, compassion, respect, and shared in our sorrow. My words can never convey how much her kindness has helped heal not only my wife's body but our aching hearts.
Melissa went above and beyond her job duties, raised the bar for her entire profession, and carved my nomination for the DAISY Award as well as my gratitude. I thanked her through my tears many times. However, she may never know how much her kindness to me, my wife, our poor little bundle of joy has and will forever stand out like a light in our lives. She postponed and missed breaks, stayed late, brought us flowers, prepped up our keepsake box. She dressed him, bundled him, placed him in our little bassinet. She gave me time with him. I will remember her always and forever. Thank you.
