Jennifer is an extremely gifted RN, especially in the Emergency Room. I know that in the event my family or myself were in need of emergency care I would breathe a little easier seeing her welcoming smile. Her knowledge and capabilities under pressure are everything and more when considering what I would want in an ER nurse.
Jennifer showed not only her rare talents in emergency medicine but also her huge heart and compassion for those in need this past Christmas season. On this particular occasion Jennifer was working in outpatient surgery, another department where she shows her strengths and love for nursing. The patient she was caring for this day presented to the hospital on a very frigid December morning and Jennifer noticed that she was not wearing a winter coat. I have no doubt that Jennifer's kindness and obvious concern made it easy for this patient to open up and share her story of why she was without a coat in a cold Wisconsin winter. Upon seeing her need, Jennifer quickly took action and shared an e-mail with the organization requesting we all honor our mission of service to the poor and help get this patient a winter coat. That care and kindness were answered with an outpour resulting not only in a new coat, but also gift cards, a gas card and a basket of goodies that was presented to the patient by Jennifer at her follow-up visit. Jennifer's kind act spread the joy of holiday giving throughout OLVH and reminded us all how fortunate we are to work alongside amazing people.
She continues to gain respect from all the ER physicians she works alongside and does it all while taking classes to further her education and caring for her beautiful children. She is an amazing asset to this hospital and community.
